Every campsite hugs the woods, has shade, and is spacious and a good distance from other campsites. There’s also a modern shower facility and camp store. Tar Hollow State Forest Bridle Trail Tar Hollow is Ohio’s third largest state forest, with over 16,000 acres. Recreational activities include camping, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, bird watching, mushroom hunting, and others.

A 46-site primitive horse camp is located at the south end of the forest on Poe Run Road. Tar Hollow State Park Campground has a variety of sunny and shady sites, with Electric and Non-electric sites as well as Cedar Cabins, Sherman Cabins, and Group Camping. Reservations are required.
